Just having posted about The Guardian editor's life being complete because of blogging, and now it looks like her life is completer (yes, I know that's not a word). She's hired BBC blogger Kevin Anderson to be the Guardian's new head of blogging and interaction.
Here's part of Kevin's new job title at The Guardian:
[To act as] a role model for the new, participative form of journalism emerging from the best blogs. The role won't just be about encouraging more journalists and commentators to blog. It should also be about experimenting with different forms of community interaction, spotting opportunities to launch new blogs and develop existing ones, and helping us form a strategy.

I don't think I'll ever understand why journalists didn't start blogging for themselves, outside of the confines of the MSM.
In Canada, people like Mark Evans and Matthew Ingram both have personal blogs that are probably pretty decent second incomes streams and they didn't have to give up on their own intellectual property...
