There is a WordCamp gathering this weekend in Birmingham "of WordPress bloggers, podcasters, designers and developers based in the United Kingdom." Checking out the topics of discussion through attendees such as Neville Hobson, I see via Twitter that one of the speakers has said Downing Street's website is being relaunched as a blog. Would be interesting to see that if it's true.

Yes, it's absolutely true. The site has been migrated to, and re-built in WordPress, and is in its final stages of development.
Don't expect it to be a full-on blog from day one; but you've only got to look at how they're using Twitter to see the willingness to engage low-level.
