Interview with Scoble

Did you realise that before Robert Scoble worked as Microsoft's geek blogger, which was before he worked at PodTech, he was a conference organiser? That's what I just found out from reading this new interview with Scoble from Ian Delaney, who's writing a book on Web 2.0.

  A cinema in Texas did a 24hr screening of movie Snakes on a Plane, which, to my knowledge, has been the first movie to top Technorati, this week. At this site, someone stayed the full 24hrs and blogged it!

BBC Blogger joins Guardian as head of blogging

Just having posted about The Guardian editor's life being complete because of blogging, and now it looks like her life is completer (yes, I know that's not a word). She's hired BBC blogger Kevin Anderson to be the Guardian's new head of blogging and interaction.

Here's part of Kevin's new job title at The Guardian:

[To act as] a role model for the new, participative form of journalism emerging from the best blogs. The role won't just be about encouraging more journalists and commentators to blog. It should also be about experimenting with different forms of community interaction, spotting opportunities to launch new blogs and develop existing ones, and helping us form a strategy.

Emily Bell's life is now complete

Readying myself to read Emily Bell's column in todays' Guardian (the paper version, which I buy and hold in my hand to read, on paper, every week) I had a hunch she'd write about her appearance on Richard and Judy as a blog pundit. She did. And she says it's made her life complete.

She also says some interesting stuff about why people begin blogging, and why blogs are now killer mainstream.

When Richard and Judy discuss blogs, they really have become common currency. In a younger demographic, new media is just media.

Perhaps Richard and Judy can do for blogging what they do for books - or maybe it's more a case of what blogging can do for Richard and Judy.

  UK Government officials have begun using the video file sharing website YouTube to see how they can take advantage of its technology.
• Feds Invade Second Life
  The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration now has a presence in Second Life. The NOAA's sim, Meteroa, includes demos about the ocean and weather.
• Mash-up or shut-up
  The engineers at Yahoo! had t-shirts printed with the 'mash-up or shut-up' slogan for their hack days where they mashed up varioius Yahoo! APIs with varying degrees of success.
• MySpace users hit by hacker virus | the Daily Mail
  The housewives' choice tells us: Experts believe that hackers have hit the hugely popular MySpace and say the viruses in circulation can change settings, delete files, secretly track users' movements online and even damage computers.
