Radio 1 is doing a podcasting trial. Breakfast sho DJ Chris Moyles announced this yesterday morning, in a ver dumbed down way, but he's now regularly mentioning podcasting on his show! I want a RAZRberry

Google adds RSS reader to personalised homepage

Logged in to http://www.google.com/ig today and saw that there's more new features. I can now add RSS feeds to my personalised homepage. Nice! I now have Gmail and RSS feeds on the same page.

Virtual Earth is pap

Virtual Earth and Google Maps both do nice things like show where your IP address is (although Virtual Earth just showed the general southern England region when I tried the IP address locator, so I'm not overcome with excitement) but these new mapping sites are strangely useless for various simple tasks that some might say maps are more commonly used for.

For example, Virtual Earth has no roads marked in the UK! And although Google Maps has roads marked on it, they decided not to include motorway exits. So if I ever have to use an online map, I go back to good old Multimap.co.uk. It does really fancy things, like... um... show you how to get places.

I think that the new mapping sites were designed for people that don't leave their PCs!

This is one of the "secrets" that readers send in to a blog called Post Secret that I just found, through reading Micro Persuasion. Some hilarious messages on there. Well worth a look.

We live in a world stuck in fast-forward

Great review of the TED conference at Oxford Uni, that's going on this week. In a piece titled "Time to switch off and slow down", BBC's Kevin Anderson reports on how Carl Honore delivered a speech warning us about our "roadrunner culture". Interesting read.
