PR agency launches blog practice

Congratulations to Steve Rubel, who is heading up a new practice over at his PR agency CooperKatz & Company. The practice is called Micro Persuasion, which is the name of Steve's work-related blog. It's good to see blog-related issues being taken under the wing of a thought-leading PR agency's offering in a prescriptive manner. Let's hope to see more follow suit.

Nanotech blog and UK conspiracies

Charles Arthur has written an article for The Independent which profiles 10 good blogs. One of the blogs he looks at has also been reviewed on LinkMachineGo - it's a UK political conspiracy blog. Interesting to see how it's run - the author has a fax and direct dial phone number for leaking secret documents and whispering rumours! Brilliant!

Also, I'm brushing up on my nanotechnology, and this blog, Nanodot, is interesting, if somewhat heavy-going. Read all about "nano-fever"!

UK tech PR update

My favourite blog of the week is The World of High-tech PR. Some great stuff there that I missed, not having had a chance to read PR Week. They include:

• Desperate to find someone - JFL, PTH, Indigo Red and PR Moves are all recruiting for what seems to be the same job.
• Inferno PR adds Microsoft to client list.
• Hotwire makes another senior appointment - and gets more flack for its website. Spin Bunny has also taken a bite.
• Lewis vs Brazen on Phones4U PR project. Brazen wins.

Today is 50 gmails day and support PR day

So I've been sent a pitch from Steven Phenix, a US PR blogger. He'd like us all to join in and help demonstrate how Public relations, PR, Advertising and  Marketing add value to business. While I don't have enough time today to do more than show my support, you'll see plenty on this blog that tries to help raise the perception of the PR industry.

Also I have 50 Gmails to give away - as has everyone on the planet it seems (as opposed to the usual handful). Looks Google's might be fully launching the service  soon. Get in touch if you still don't have one.

There's a NIB in the Financial Times this morning about a new PR tool for science and high-tech companies. Here's the tool itself - called the forum for technology, citizens and the market. Here's the FT's story (paid subscription).

Weather blog

We brits love talking about the weather, the foreigners keep telling us. No wonder then, that a new weather blog, launched by Mink Media and edited by Giles Turnbull is getting such publicity. The blog is called Rising Slowly, and is the big sister to the as yet unborn UK media blog Grokspin.

Elsewhere, Morgan McLintic at Lewis and Andrew Smith at Object Marketing have both pointed me towards this new tool - it turns breaking headlines from Google News into RSS feeds.Your RSS reader (feedster, bloglines etc) can send you the top headlines on your chosen searches. I personally already have a bunch of Google News Alerts set up on client key words, but they aren't real time, so I'll be using this new RSS engine.
