Burberry's PR challenge - Chavs

I've heard of fakes, but have never seen a FCUKING chav, or a Von Chav Tshirt? Anyway, this morning's FT looks at how Chav Culture has affected Burberry's PR, and how Burberry has even changed its product lines following the negative image portrayed by the UK's Chavs wearing burberry gear. AKA "Neds, Townies, Kevs, Charvers, Steeks, Spides, Bazzas, Yarcos, Ratboys, Kappa Slappas, Skangers, Scutters, Janners, Stigs, Scallies or hood Rats."

Most Haunted PR, Station Hotel, Dudley, Room 214

I'd really like to know who does the PR for Most haunted - the show on Sky. Great job! They're managing to get a real cult following. Everyone's talking about it.

The show's fronted by Yvette Fielding and features Derek Acorah, the scouse medium. Derek's hilarious. He's always getting 'posessed' and saying things like GET OUT OF THE TOWER etc etc. My favourite was when he started growling MARY LOVES DICK! That soundbite made it onto Radio 1 with its pure comedy value. Actually, Radio 1's Scott Mills is a big fan and is always talking about Most Haunted on his show. He got Robbie Williams talking about it too, and apparently Robbie wants to be on Most Haunted itself! Great PR job! What better endorsementcould you hope for!

But tonight's show on FTN was creepy. In the Station Hotel, Dudley, Room 214, a "poltergheist" scared the shit out of the crew and made Yvette's thighs go warm. The hotel is really really really haunted. What happened? A crew member got ghost-scratched on her face, there were spooky lights floating around in the rooms, and a chair and bed were filmed moving around on their own! That's actually the spookiest thing I've ever seen in my life.

Seatbelts are boring. So this is how to get your new seatbelt reviewed with a photo on blogs. Have a confused dog in the pic! BMW has come out with what it says is the first doggy safety belt. How cool!

Computing and IT Week move - Wolpe replaces Gubbins

Just saw on FullRun that Mike Gubbins is leaving Computing (he's the editor) and is going to be replaced by IT Week's editor in chief, Toby Wolpe. So is Lem Bingley going to take complete control of IT Week? Hope so. He's good he is.

Bunny bites

Nice UK tech PR blog from Spin Bunny. After one particular scathing attack, Charles Arthur took a bite back. But great blog from the anonymous flack.

Spin Bunny - one reason the PR Week Award winners know up front is partly to do with the photographer that the mag sends around a few days / weeks in advance blabbing about the fact that he only gets sent to the winners.
